Stranger Things Season 4: Volume 2 Review - 8 Ups & 2 Downs

5. The SUPERB Production Values

It's been reported that the budget for Stranger Things' fourth season was an eye-watering $30 million per episode, and while much of that went to the cast's renegotiated contracts, it's still plainly clear that a pretty penny was spent on the actual production itself.

Volume 2 confirms this to be one of the most lavishly produced seasons of TV ever made. Basically every single scene, even the most basic, dialogue-driven ones, have all the glossy sheen of a cinematic event.

Yet the show once again comes into its own where its atmosphere and set-pieces are concerned: the cinematography, visual effects, makeup, and sound design are all absolutely first-rate.

Given the apocalyptic extent of Vecna's crusade, it wouldn't have surprised anyone if there were some wonky VFX moments, yet from start to finish this is a supremely polished four hours of TV.
