Supergirl Season 1: 10 Big Questions From 'Human For A Day'

6. Is Supergirl Now A Symbol Of Hope?

Previously, we€™ve seen Supergirl save the day and almost become taken for granted a little as she effortlessly takes down any and all threats on National City. But here, have we maybe seen a change in attitude towards the Girl of Steel? Even though the public isn€™t certain that she€™s lost her powers, when James Olsen captures a picture of a totally powerless Supergirl having a goon handing over a gun to her, that picture did indeed speak a 1,000 words. It showed a side to Supergirl that maybe the public hadn€™t seen; a side that wasn€™t about ice breath, heat vision, flying, or any other superpower. Instead, the public saw Supergirl€™s humanity and how it€™s possible to resolve problems without necessary having the powers of an alien whose strength comes from Earth€™s yellow sun. Supergirl gave hope to National City, and gave them the belief that you don€™t need powers to be able to do the job of a hero.
