Supergirl Season 2: 7 Ups And 2 Downs From 'The Adventures Of Supergirl'

3. Not Being Overshadowed

Phew! Following plenty of worry and concern, fear not, for The Adventures of Supergirl firmly kept Melissa Benoist's Girl of Steel front-and-centre.

Given that her more famous cousin - the one who is the greatest superhero of all-time - was making his Supergirl bow here, many feared that the show's titular Maid of Might may get lost in the shuffle or overshadowed by the ominous cape of the Big Blue Boy Scout.

Instead, we see Kara Zor-El thrive in the presence of the Man of Steel. The bond between the two has already been covered earlier in this piece, but Kara as a whole seemed to be brilliantly handled by the show's creative team.

Even though the series is now on a different network and has upped the ante by bringing in Superman, the key elements that made the Supergirl character so great in her debut season were still present here - and if anything, everything had been switched up to 11.

We were still given the energetic, enthusiastic, caring, compassionate Kara, but the way in which Supergirl had her play off a fellow Kryptonian and fellow hero was the perfect introduction to Kara for those who may be new to the show. The fact that Supergirl can more than hold her own when on screen with her far more recognisable cousin is testament to both Melissa Benoist's screen presence and just how great a job that show's writers can do with the character when needed.
