Supergirl Season 4: 8 Ups & 2 Downs From 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?'

1. No Reference To The Season's Main Storyline

There is absolutely no denying that 'O Brother, Where Art Thou' may be the best episode of the season so far. However, the problem is that it ended up achieving that honour without any help from the season's main storyline.

The lack of references to Ben Lockwood, the Children of Liberty's anti-alien agenda and the world's views on the humans vs. aliens debate certainly didn't take away from this episode as the urgency of it all ensured that everything took place within a few hours, and so these long-term issues wouldn't have affected the storyline. However, the problem is that we all know that the Lex Luthor arc is going to be short-lived because, as much as we'd like him to be, he's not the Big Bad of the season.

Furthermore, Lex hasn't referred to Agent Liberty or what he stands for, which certainly suggests that his plan doesn't revolve around the season's bigger picture. If that is the case, and his intentions completely set apart from Lockwood's, then it's a safe bet that he won't be sticking around for long. That is undoubtedly a shame because, as it stands, Lex Luthor is already far more engaging than anything we have seen this season - and that is not a good thing, especially at this stage.
