Supergirl Season 5 Review: 6 Ups & 3 Downs From Crisis On Infinite Earths, Part 1
5. The Supergirl Cast Was Well-Utilised
As this was primarily the first installment of Crisis On Infinite Earths, it's almost easy to forget that it's also an episode of Supergirl - or at least it should have been easy to forget. But we didn't forget, and that's because the writers did a great job of making sure that the whole Supergirl cast got at least one moment to shine.
As previous crossovers never took place on Earth-38, Supergirl was always the show to get the least amount of focus as its characters and universe wasn't all that relevant to the storylines of each respective crossover. But with the Crisis targetting Earth-38, that all changed and, as a result, we got to witness J'onn, Alex, Dreamer, Lena and Kelly do their part in aiding with the evacuation off the planet, while Brainiac-5 assisted Sara, Lois and Clark in finding baby Jonathan.
While an episodic format could end up holding a five-part crossover back - as each installment would have to be heavily-inspired by one of the five shows - it worked on this occasion as Supergirl finally got some long overdue attention and, more than that, it felt like a natural beginning of the Crisis narrative.
