Supernatural: 10 Best Characters Who Appeared After Season One
6. Rowena MacLeod
Oh Rowena, you naughty witch. First appearing in Season Ten, Rowena MacLeod was a centuries-old witch and mother to everyone's favourite King of Hell - Crowley. With her striking red hair and melodic Scottish accent, Rowena cut a very distinctive and memorable figure and won over the fanbase immediately. Although she was originally introduced as an antagonist, she wasn't truly evil and, as with her son, she spent a great deal of time flip-flopping between being friend or foe to the Winchesters.
For most of her life, Rowena was only ever really interested in becoming more powerful and tended to be very self-centred. She never even seemed to care for her son, Crowley (or Fergus as he'd been known), until she discovered that he'd taken over as King of Hell. Despite this though, she always had a cheery attitude, and knew how to play the innocent to manipulate others. She basically came across like that fun and quirky aunt who gets shunned by the rest of the family because she's always causing trouble.
Over the years though (and after several deaths) she did grow closer to the Winchesters, especially Sam, and tended to align with the side of good more and more. This all culminated in the final season when she sacrificed herself to help the boys in their fight against Chuck. Not to worry though, because she went on to become the Queen of Hell (where she made some changes) and seemed to be loving it. Like son, like mother.
