3. Rob Benedict

Rob Benedict played Chuck Shurley, the prophet of God who - under the pseudonym Carver Edlund - writes a series of very popular novels about the Winchester brothers that seem to verge on the line between Hardy Boys and Harlequin Romance. Though in the end Chuck proves to be more than a prophet, proving himself to not only be God, himself, but also in the end he is the series' Big Bad.

Supernatural wasn't Benedict's only turn in an Abrahamic story arc - he also portrayed the French mercenary Vincent Le Mec in the series Lucifer. Unlike his sympathetic hero turned irredeemable villain role in Supernatural, in Lucifer he starts off as a villain and eventually gets possessed by the ghost of one of the series' dead heroes.

Benedict suffered a stroke in 2013 during a Supernatural convention and survived thanks to the quick-thinking actions of his good friend Richard Speight, Jr. - Supernatural's archangel Gabriel.

Since Supernatural's end, he has appeared in a number of shows, including NCIS Hawaii and On The Verge, as well as playing Fred Collins in the Olivia Munn film, Violet. Aside from running a t-shirt company with his life-saving buddy Speight, Benedict also fronts a rock band called Louden Swain.
