Supernatural: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best

9. Season One

Supernatural finale
The CW

It's been so long since Supernatural first hit our screens that it can be hard to remember just how fun and camp the first season was. A simple premise that followed two brothers as they battled demons and investigated grisly crimes, the show's debut was a formulaic monster-of-the-week horror yarn, with instantly lovable characters and a solid hook.

Of course, looking back, it's clear the show had yet to find its legs, and was still setting up the world and the mystery that surrounded Sam and Dean. It's not as daring as what would follow, either, and there are moments when John Winchester is hard to like, what with him loving to keep secrets and all.

Even with these bumps, though, season one is something really special, an exciting horror-drama bursting with dark themes, spooky monsters and an easy-to-watch format. I don't think anyone was expecting the show to blow quite like it did whilst watching its debut, but that doesn't make it any less effective.
