Taboo Season 2: Everything We Know

7. Release Dates

Taboo Show Tom Hardy
FX Productions

Taboo Season one premiered on 7 January 2017, for an eight episode run on the BBC. There has been a lot of discussion on the second series since then, from writer Stephen Knight and star Tom Hardy, each one keen to see the drama continue. Speaking with the Radio Times in March 2017, Knight had this to say :

“We think it has got a two and a three certainly, that’s the plan. After that who knows? This series is eight parts – it’s a lot of time.”

Since the BBC confirmed the follow up season in 2017, Hardy also threw in on the show saying:

“We are grateful and excited to continue our relationship with the BBC and FX in contributing towards British drama. Fantastic news.”

More recent reports, however, have stated that while Taboo aimed for a return in 2020, Hardy's busy schedule and other world events have pushed it back to 2021. ResearchBlaze seems to be leading the charge on this, reporting in September 2020:

"Taboo Season 2 was going to release in the year 2020, but due to the busy schedules of Tom Hardy and then the COVID outbreak resulted in the postponing of the season. The new release date will be declared shortly, but for now, it is the beginning of the year 2021.The trailer of Season 2 will be on the global platform shortly."

Fans can expect more news on release dates the coming months.
