The Big Bang Theory: 10 Best Characters Who Appeared After Season 1
3. Will Wheaton
The Big Bang Theory pulled in a fair few celebrities playing themselves as it became increasingly successful, but by far the best was the recurring presence of Wil Wheaton. In the earlier seasons especially, he was one of the best parts of the show, helping to fill in the backstory of Sheldon in his role as Dr Cooper’s mortal enemy.
Wheaton gamely plays on his somewhat unpopular role as Wesley Crusher in Star Trek: The Next Generation. As a young actor he made Sheldon’s hit list by no-showing a convention; when he discovers he has a nemesis he never knew about, he happily throws himself into the part.
He draws further ire from Sheldon by lying about his reasons for missing the convention, causing Sheldon to throw a card game tournament, then continues to one-up the gang over the following seasons.
Wheaton eventually finds a soul and helps the gang out in his appearances, but his finest moments come in his villainous role, which he embraces wholeheartedly. It could be the finest work of the actor’s career.
