In a show about geeks, nerds and dorks, it was obvious that the (literal) girl next door would play a big role in bringing them out of their shell, and Penny did that pitch-perfectly.
This character was a highlight in the series, as her lack of nerdy credentials helped bring an outside eye into the bubble of the main characters, and she had us laughing the whole way.
Penny was a delightful character as she was sarcastic, flawed and more than willing to chuck out a good quip or two. However, her relationship with the other characters (especially Leonard, Sheldon and Amy) gave viewers a great eye into her and turned the character into one of the most compelling leading ladies in sitcom history.
