The Bourne... TV series?

Well, perhaps not exactly. Writer-producer Anthony E. Zuiker (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) is developing a TV pilot for CBS called Treadstone 71 -- named after a fictional black-ops department of the CIA created by Robert Ludlum (author of the Bourne novels, adapted into the movie trilogy starring Matt Damon). Treadstone 71's script is being written by John Glenn (Eagle Eye). It's unknown if Treadstone 71 will take additional inspiration from the Bourne franchise, in terms of its premise or quasi-documentary filming style by director Paul Greengrass, but this is still an intriguing project. Considering the fact Treadstone 71 were responsible for amnesiac Bourne's plight in the movies, surely there'll be some kind of crossover? Otherwise, why not just give your fictional CIA department a different name entirely? I just can't imagine CBS failing to insist this show connects to the Bourne brand more openly. It's all about marketability these days. The future of the Bourne movie franchise itself is in doubt, despite reports of a sequel called The Bourne Legacy being written by Tony Gilroy for a prospective 2012 release. Greengrass and Damon aren't officially attached to another sequel yet, with Damon even suggesting a prequel could be made in the interim -- with another actor and director.
