The Boys Season 1: 9 Questions In Desperate Need Of Answers
3. Who Is Black Noir And What Does He Do?
The character we undoubtedly know the least about after finishing the first season of The Boys is Black Noir. This dark and brooding member of The Seven says nothing and, well, does nothing in these opening eight episodes. His promotional material and outfit suggest that he’s a super-powered ninja, but other than that we aren’t given anything, not even a face.
This was clearly a deliberate move by the writers. His small number of appearances offer comic relief as well as intrigue into who he is and what he does. There’s a hilarious scene near the end, for example, in which Homelander’s berating The Seven on their performance, only to turn to Black Noir and reassure him that he’s doing great. Of course, he receives no verbal response.
So little being known leads to masses of speculation; again likely the intentions of the writers. First and foremost, his identity and how powerful he is.
Could he be a spy, secretly working for The Boys?
Is he maybe the one truly good, original member of The Seven?
Or could he be the worst of them all?
Given his stellar performance review from Homelander, the latter is probably the most likely.
