Earth 2 was created for the comics as a way of explaining how Silver-Age and Golden-Age characters could appear at the same time in the same stories, and was first really explored in Flash of Two Worlds. As teased by the image above, released by The CW, that's clearly going to be an influence on season 2. So we have Barry Allen, The Flash from Earth 1, and then Jay Garrick, the first man to use the name, from Earth 2. This gives way to a huge amount of possibilities, from the fact of having multiple versions of the speedster running around, to introducing new characters, and duplicating existing ones. And it's something the show will be diving straight into, according to producer Andrew Kreisberg. Could it be that Barry, when running through the wormhole at the end of last season, actually ends up in Earth 2, and that is where season 2 begins for our hero? It certainly seems like that could be the case, and hopefully the show is going to be spending a lot of time playing around with these alternate dimensions.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
