The Flash Season 3: 10 Things You Might've Missed In 'Flashpoint'

6. "What Were You Expecting, A Fortress?"

The Flash Wally West
The CW

When Wally brings Barry back to his secret HQ, Barry isn’t too impressed with the décor. “What were you expecting," Wally retorts. "A fortress?”

This is obviously a nod to Superman’s Fortress of Solitude. It could just be a general DC reference but it might also serve as a reminder that Superman is coming to the Arrowvverse very shortly, when Tyler Hoechlin dons the cape in Supergirl’s season two premiere.

Wally also explains how he got his powers in this reality - his car was struck by lightning while he was out drag racing. Apart from nicely calling back to Wally’s backstory on the show last year, it might also be a nod to Wally’s ridiculous origins story from the comics - in which a freak lightning bolt miraculously recreates the accident that gave Barry his powers.

Also, it’s probably not deliberate, but did this scene remind anyone else of that bit from the Justice League trailer where Bruce Wayne meets Ezra Miller in his Flash-Cave?
