And while all will be happy families for the Allens during the first part of Season 3, Barry’s relationship with father figure Joe West will now be pretty much non-existent.

It’s already been confirmed by executive producer Andrew Kreisberg that Barry’s relationship with Joe will be one of the major casualties of the whole Flashpoint element of the season. Kreisberg has gone on record to explain, “In some ways, Barry has sacrificed his relationship with Joe for his relationship with his birth family, and that’s one of the challenges that Barry has to overcome in the episode.”

Obviously with Nora Allen having not died, Barry didn’t have the need to be taken in by the Wests, which in turn means his bond with Joe sadly didn’t develop. As for his relationship with Iris, that’s been described as a chemistry that will always exist and something that basically transcends any timelines. And without being brought up together as almost surrogate siblings, that means that Barry has a clean slate to try and woo Iris in this timeline.
