The Flash Season 4: 7 Problems It Needs To Fix
2. Allow The Show To Have Fun Again
Ever since the end of Season 2, Barry sure has been pretty mopey, hasn't he? Though the loss of both of his parents was certainly heartbreaking, Barry's consistent melancholy has led to the show continually being dragged down, stripping away the varied tone that helped keep the show balanced in the past.
This wouldn't be such an issue if it had been how the show was from the beginning, but the first two seasons still allowed each episode to have a great deal of energetic fun mixed in with the tense, serious moments. However, with Barry constantly down and unhappy, this has led to the show largely being dragged down with him, leading to less entertaining episodes overall. The show needs more episodes like the Supergirl musical crossover where it goes back to the emotional balance of the better episodes in the series.
The Flash is at its best when it's balancing those climactic character moments alongside the comedy and action. Without that great balance, those dramatic moments lack the same punch. Taking the threats in the show seriously is undoubtedly important, but don't forget to let the Scarlet Speedster have some fun while he's out saving the day (and ruining the timeline).
