The Flash Season 5: 5 Ups & 1 Downs From 'Memorabilia'

2. Giving The Cure A Purpose

When the show introduced the idea of a metahuman cure, it caught all of us off-guard - not because it wasn't an intriguing idea (it was), but because it was Cisco who wanted to create a cure for himself after absolutely no buildup whatsoever. While it led to an interesting debate between him and Caitlin on the importance of giving metahumans a choice when it came to whether they wanted to be cured or not, that didn't stop his behaviour from coming off as quite random, rendering the cure's introduction as a real head-scratcher.

However, 'Memorabilia's final scene saw Barry storm into S.T.A.R. Labs and reveal that he plans on using the cure on Cicada - a moment that blessed us with some clarity and finally gave Cisco's meta-cure some real (and naturally-progressed) purpose. Team Flash have just about exhausted every option when it comes to derailing the Big Bad's plans to kill all metas, so it makes complete sense that they would want to try a different approach.

Barry's realisation couldn't have come at a better time, either. Thanks to some light-hearted fun with Ralph, Cisco was able to unwind enough to figure out how to make the meta-cure a reality, setting Barry's ultimate plan in motion. The only question is: will Cicada have a choice in the matter?
