The Flash Season 5: 5 Ups & 1 Downs From 'Memorabilia'
3. An Unexpected Twist
Nora's venture into Grace's mind proved to be rather enlightening as the little girl revealed that, despite her coma, she could still overhear her uncle Orilin's conversations and, thus, understood his vendetta against all metas. As a result, Grace turned on Nora and showcased a rage against metahumans that would rival her own uncle's, as she unleashed a female version of Cicada to kill the speedster in her own mind.
Following on from that, we learned that Grace actually has a piece of meta-tech lodged in her brain, which is why her defense mechanism wouldn't allow Nora to leave. However, this (and the fact that there is a female Cicada in her own consciousness) suggests that Grace is more tightly linked to her uncle than we thought. Could the meta-tech be enabling her to control Orlin's actions, essentially making her the real Cicada?
Whether it pans out this way or not, this was a genius move on the part of the writers as it has thrown a real spanner in the works and allowed us to get somewhat more invested in the Cicada storyline, in spite of his absence (more on that later). Let's hope they continue to intrigue us in the weeks that follow.
