5. Commander Waterford Is Out Of Action

Considering the fact that the explosion at the Red Center killed so many people, it would've been unbelievable had Fred Waterford managed to escape unscathed. It's not exactly made clear how the Commander managed to escape with his life (perhaps he was outside of the blast radius?), but he's been left with some severe injuries.

Fred looked worse for wear when Serena visited him in the highly guarded hospital. He's constantly in and out of consciousness, and the only thing that manages to hold his attention is June when she shows up at his bedside. His fondness of the handmaid clearly frustrates Serena.

Nonetheless, Fred managed to escape the blast with his life. But how long will it take before he gets back to work? With Fred out of action, Serena has started making executive decisions on his behalf, and she appears to be enjoying the power. With that in mind, it might be a while before the Commander is back in action.
