The Haunting Of Hill House: 7 Most Chilling Fan Theories
2. Hill House Is Not Evil, But Protective
Hill House seems to be the ultimate source of evil, but another fan theory suggests the House itself is actually trying to contain the evil within it.
Luke can’t burn down the house and it can’t be destroyed in other ways. This is not the House defending itself in a malicious way, but instead the house trying to contain the evil inside so it doesn’t escape into the world.
This would also back up theory #4 about the ghosts not being able to leave Hill House (at least not whilst the House is still standing), which makes the terrifying ghosts Nell and Luke see outside of it during adulthood a result of psychological trauma.
Although the Red Room has lots of malevolent theories surrounding it, it could actually be the House trying to give the Crains some sort of sanctuary where they could feel safe and secure from the evil happening all around them.
