The Last Dance Review: 6 Ups & 1 Down
4. The Actual Footage Of The Team
As well as the old game footage in The Last Dance, the documentary actually uses behind the scenes footage of the team from that fateful '97-98 season. This kind of look into the inner workings of a successful basketball team, let alone arguably the best ever, is unprecedented.
Michael Jordan is notorious for being one of the most competitive men in the history of the NBA, and his trash talking both on and off the court is legendary. However it is one thing to hear these stories told to you, and another entirely to see for yourself MJ say to Larry Bird "F*ck you, you b*tch" after knocking the Pacers out of the Playoffs.
Jordan's attitude towards his team mates in training is also something that honestly has to be seen to be believed. He pushed the other players on the Bulls to be as great as he was, in particular picking on Scott Burrell, Steve Kerr, and the Croatian sensation Toni Kukoc, before he even joined the team.
Seeing what makes an athlete like Michael Jordan tick, and how his relationships both on and off the court were affected by it, can't be put into words any better than actually seeing it for yourself.
