The Last Of Us Season 2: Episode 3 (The Path) 4 Ups & 4 Downs
2. Up - Ellie & Dina's Relationship
When episode two paired Joel with Dina, and Ellie with Jesse (Young Mazino) for the big moment, there was a lot of development missed in the relationship between Ellie and Dina, not to mention as individuals. Episode three went some way to making up for that.
Ever since meeting Joel, Ellie hadn't been alone, and Dina was going to make damn sure that that didn't change. She was there for Ellie with information on how to find Abby literally half an hour after she left the hospital, and there was absolutely no hesitation in her heading out to Seattle with her.
Their previous interactions were mainly goofy, in the best kind of way, but things got a little deeper here. Dina isn't just Ellie's friend, and they aren't just two people who shared a drunken kiss. They need each other, probably more than either one would care to admit yet.
In terms of Ellie, she knows she doesn't tend to think before saying or doing something she shouldn't. Dina is the cooler head that Ellie needs to prevail, from letting Abby and her group get home to Seattle before following them, to properly planning a route and making sure they were well supplied for the journey. They will work incredibly well together in Seattle, as their relationship only deepens.
