The comedy veteran-turned-MCU favourite confirmed his addition to the world's most storied franchise with a simple tweet on May 4th, showing Mando's helmet resting atop his own director's chair.

The former Yes Man helmer was brought into the wider Disney fold - and likely Favreau's orbit - when he was brought in to take charge of Ant-Man following Marvel's somewhat acrimonious split with Edgar Wright over the latter's long-gestating work.

Since then, he's helmed follow-up Ant-Man and the Wasp, and he will take charge for Ant-Man 3 too at an unspecified point in the near-future - but his Mandalorian opportunity may give him the chance to flex his more muscular, dramatic chops for once after his prior lighter fare.

Something of a culture vulture, Mr Steel can historically be found in three places; the local cinema, the local stadium or the local chip shop. He is an avowed fan of franchise films, amateur cricket and power-chords.
