The Punisher: 25 WTF Moments

5. Micro's Absurd Gait Recognition Software (Episode 2, "Two Dead Men")

The Punisher Gait Recognition
Netflix

When Micro is tracking Frank's movements early on, he uses preposterous "gait recognition" software to determine whether the man he's following is indeed Frank.

Perhaps even more implausible is Frank's awareness of this fact, prompting him to add a limp to his walk in order to throw the software off and keep Micro from tracking him.

Later in the episode when Micro calls Frank, Frank jokes to him that he "got a limp" all of a sudden, while Micro wondered just how long it would take for him to figure it out.

While gait recognition does seem absurd on the face of it, even weirder is the fact that it's actually a very real technology used by intelligence services to track people down. Stranger than fiction, indeed.
