Movie Parody: Almost any classic horror film that exists

It might seem like a bit of a cheat to lump all of of Treehouse of Horror parodies together, but there are frankly too many great ones to narrow down, so it would be unfair to leave one out.

The Treehouse of Horror anthology episodes became a staple of The Simpsons, with the producers creating a new one every season as part of the Halloween tradition. These types of episodes have continued to be a success because they’re always creative, hilarious and often parody classic horror films, television series' and books.

Arguably, the best Halloween movie parody is “The Shinning” from Treehouse of Horror V - an excellent parody of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. It’s hilarious, it’s self aware, it replicates several of the original set pieces brilliantly and Dan Castellaneta excels as he recreates the lunacy of Jack Torrence.

But there are plenty of other excellent Simpsons horror movie parodies, including If I Only Had A Brain (Frankenstein), King Homer (King Kong), Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace (Nightmare on Elm Street), Fly vs. Fly (The Fly) and the more recent Parasimpson, which satirised the Oscar winning Parasite (2019).
