The Simpsons: 10 Greatest Fox Gags

6. FOX 25th Anniversary Special (2012)

And just in case some of the other FOX News gags are a bit too subtle, the Simpsons made sure on the FOX 25th Anniversary special re-screening of €˜Simpsons Roasting on a Christmas Fire€™ that the message could be heard loud and clear. What is particularly funny about this particular gag is obviously the fact that it alienates FOX News to its own special category outside of the regular mockery that the FOX product receives at the hands of the Simpsons writers. The Simpsons has parodied and pilloried the content and tone of FOX ever since it began, but it has always felt like sibling rivalry and good natured ribbing. This little insert card confirms that even though the Simpsons writers might think FOX produces some dreck, it is their dreck and they share a kinship. FOX News however is ostracised from this little community, and while it's obviously a joke, the sting comes from the fact that it is based in reality.
