The whole gag of Homer calling himself Mr Plow is by itself one of the great sexual jokes in Simpsons history, and there is no doubt that it went over more than a few peoples heads when the episode premiered in 1992 - particularly since so many kids were into the show at that time. But that little play on words is not the only one that a few people missed at first when this episode first aired. In a similar style, the writers of the Simpsons unleashed a simple yet effective sucker punch to the FOX network. After getting a commercial for his upstart business on TV at some ungodly hour Homer proclaims It may be on a lousy channel, but the Simpsons are on TV! And being that the Simpsons was a rare diamond floating in an ocean of crap that made up the majority of FOX at the time, its pretty much 100% accurate too.
