The Simpsons: 10 Major Plot-Holes Everyone Ignores
1. Springfield's Geography
By far the biggest thing you’ll notice on a rewatch of The Simpsons is how strange the geography of Springfield is. If you’re into your mobile gaming, organising a vaguely realistic Springfield in Tapped Out is an exercise in futility which will leave you a wretched ball of insanity on the floor.
The buildings just move about at will. Sometimes it’s for gags, but most of the time it just seems to be random. Obviously, with the lack of willingness to pin Springfield down to a state, geography is not high on the agenda. There’s also the winks at the impossibility with the four non-neighbouring states bordering Springfield, and West Springfield being bigger than Texas.
You’d think it was a comedy or something, with how little they take this seriously.
Though The Simpsons live at 742 Evergreen Terrace, that’s an address which has jumped around a bit in the early seasons. It’s also been next to the prison, the church and the power plant in various episodes.
Away from the Simpson family, there’s too many buildings which hop around to count. The point is, don’t expect anything in Springfield to stay where it should be.
