The Simpsons: 10 Most Desperate Moments

9. Letting Ricky Gervais Write His Own Episode

Speaking of letting a celebrity take over a whole episode, comedian Ricky Gervais literally got to write his own episode. Much hysteria went into the promotion of this episode, especially here in the UK. Gervais was on top of the world at the time due to his starring role on the Office and Sky 1 spent weeks hyping up his guest spot. It obviously worked since the episode was viewed by over 2.8 million people when it first aired, but what they actually tuned into was ... just okay. Sure it was funny. Yes Gervais managed to inject himself fully into his role as Charles, a man who looks and sounds exactly like Gervais. But like with Lady Gaga, we got too much of him. He was in more than half the scenes, his dialogue went on forever (he takes ages telling a bad joke about spousal abuse) and he even got to sing! Granted many of us fans would find it difficult to show restraint if we were given permission to write ourselves into the Simpsons world, but even so, we felt like we had overdosed on his character by the end of Act 2.

As a wrestling fan I've flown across the Atlantic for the last five years specifically to attend WrestleMania (28 and 30) as well as TNA, ROH, Evolve, Chikara and most recently PWG. I may have a problem! But if you're reading my work then you probably love wrestling too, so lets focus on that!
