The Simpsons: 10 Most HATED Episodes
5. The Musk Who Fell To Earth
Over the years, guest spots on The Simpsons gradually shifted from small but memorable roles playing different characters, to "look, it's such and such from [insert show]!" and eventually to entire episodes focused on the latest celebrity that writers chose to fawn over.
"The Musk Who Fell to Earth", then, belongs to the latter category. Essentially operating as an extended commercial for technology entrepreneur Elon Musk rather than an episode of The Simpsons, this show relegates our beloved family to supporting cast members.
Though producers claimed a desire not to turn the episode into a "kiss-ass" special, that's exactly how it comes off when you opt to give a celebrity their own episode simply because they're a fan of the show.
Celebs voicing themselves on The Simpsons typically results in subpar outings, and makers of The Simpsons are too often so smitten by the idea of having these famous folk on the show that they aren't concerned about whether they can actually provide a comic presence. Sure enough, Musk's emotionless delivery consistently drains the life out of any intended comedy they were going for here.
Long gone are the days of Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep lending their voices to iconic characters; here's Elon Musk landing in the Simpsons' yard for no reason. Now, over to you, Elon!
