The Simpsons: 11 Most Paused Moments

4. Homer's Memories

"Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind" was one of the very few episodes from the later years which presented how brilliant the directors could be when making new content.

In this particular instance, we’re given a strong storyline, accurate characterization and hilarious jokes. But the Eternal Moonshine episode is distinctive for giving us a plethora of references to previous Simpsons moments.

The context for the storyline goes as Homer wakes up with the loss of his memory from the previous day and finds his wife and kids missing. He seeks out Professor Frink who hooks him up with a device that can explore all his memories. In doing so, he is transported through a portal of several different memories of Homer’s - all of which are freeze-frames of a previous episode.

For any avid viewer, these moments are overwhelming as there is just so much to pick apart and reflect on. It’s near enough impossible to list every single frame captured by the animators but for any die-hard fans, this whole scene is utter enjoyment for its rich details and creativity.
