The Simpsons: 11 Most Paused Moments
5. Frink Rules!
It’s another moment from a Halloween trilogy. In the final segment of “Treehouse of Horror VI”, Homer discovers a portal behind a bookcase which leads him into a three dimensional world. Although the graphics have aged badly, this new aesthetic was ground-breaking and very impressive for its time.
In this new discovered abyss, Homer is surrounded by several 3D objects, equations and there is also a long set of hexadecimal numbers that goes ’46 72 69 6E 6B 20 72 75 6C 65 73 21’ which appears briefly in the background.
For the more intellectual viewers, they were intrigued to see if this was more than just a random collection of numbers. It was discovered that when converting those numbers into ASCII (America’s standard code for information interchange), it translates to the phrase ‘Frink Rules’ – referring to the town’s genius scientist Professor Frink who appears in this particular episode to help Homer escape from the 3D nightmare.
But, for the vast majority (myself included of course), this hidden Easter Egg escapes most Simpsons fans.
