The Simpsons: 5 Things You Might’ve Missed In The Past Five Years

1. Comic Book Guy Got Married

Simpsons The Serfons
Fox

This one may be the biggest surprise of all to those fans who stopped watching before the show moved into high definition. Comic Book Guy, real name Jeff Albertson, gets married in season 25 episode Married To The Blob. His wife, Japanese immigrant Kumiko Nakamura, sticks around too, and has a role comparable to that of Manjula in the most recent seasons.

Just as CBG is at his loneliest, Kumiko walks into his store to check out his manga collection. The pair end up dating and despite Comic Book Guy's doubts and low self-esteem, she reassures him they make the perfect match. As well as a lovely moral, the best thing about this is his personality doesn't change from his lovable sarcastic self, so classic fans need not worry.

While The Simpsons has featured Japanese themes before (when they visit the country in Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo most notably), here they explore the animation more than ever before, with a beautiful Ghibli-esque segment featuring the likes of Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro and Howl's Moving Castle.

Stan Lee officiates the wedding at The Andriod's Dungeon too. What more could you want?
