Homer is kicked out of the cinema, but Bart shows him how to watch the movie illegally. In true Marge style, she writes a cheque to the theatre with an apology, leading to Homer's eventual arrest. From there, the show is incredibly self-aware.

As one of the most popular shows in television history, The Simpsons is no stranger to illegal downloads. The plot, which sees people's motivations change on a dime (or on how many dimes they can make), seems to be making a point about the selfish brand of individualism so rife today.

Homer starts showing pirate movies in his backyard and is sued by Hollywood. However, they drop the charges in exchange for the movie rights to his story. When this movie is made, the neighbours try to watch it in Homer's backyard, but he wants the royalties so instead demands they watch it at the theatre.

A little on the nose, but at least this episode bothers to say something.
