The Simpsons: All Of Bart's Love Interests, Ranked Worst To Best
4. Laura Powers
Laura Powers is Bart’s first real love interest of the show, and is one of the older girls in terms of in canon age too. She’s one of the few love interests to be from the Golden Era, and as a result she’s nowhere near as gimmicky as some of the other characters here, but as a result she’s much more memorable.
Her grounded personality and dry sense of humour plays off Bart’s smart-alecky ways brilliantly, especially as he tries to impress her. Before Laura, Bart always had charming charisma with most other characters. Getting his first crush though caused him to say things like ‘I fell on my bottom’, and it was great to see him flounder as the Milhouse for once.
Like Shauna, she’s dating Jimbo in this episode, but it works much better here to show her as an unattainable figure of Bart’s fantasies, including a slow dance/wedgie dream.
Her character sticks around, in theory, although she never gets a speaking role again, with her mother only coming back once to train Marge at bodybuilding. It’s a shame she wasn’t folded into the makeup of the town more when she’s clearly such a good fit.
