The Simpsons: Every Main Character Ranked Worst To Best
27. Reverend Timothy Lovejoy
Every town needs to have a spiritual advisor, and in the case of Springfield, that person is Reverend Timothy Lovejoy. He might be a little stern and severe, but he does seem like the kind of person you could trust with your eternal soul - maybe.
The issue with Lovejoy is that he's somewhat limited in his position. The show's early days sought to disrupt the system by attacking religious institutions in a way that very few programmes did at the time, yet they always kept Revered Lovejoy as a bit of a blank slate.
As the show progressed, you learned a little more about him - such as his love for model trains - but it's hard to see him as anything but his job description. Other professional characters like Chief Wiggum have a personality outside of their work, but Lovejoy seems to have missed that memo.
