The Simpsons Season 28: 7 Things It's Got Right (So Far)
1. Making The 600th Episode A Treehouse of Horror
The smartest thing the Simpsons has done in season twenty-eight was to slot the annual Halloween episode in as the 600th overall episode of the series.
First of all - 600 episodes. That's an incredible feat. And 27 Treehouse of Horror episodes among them. The fact that these Halloween specials are still eagerly sought out by fans of the show is a testament to how good The Simpsons can be. And frankly, it seems the show always tries a little harder when Treehouse of Horror is involved.
In Treehouse of Horror XVII, the show spoofs Mad Max and The Hunger Games when Mr. Burns takes control of the town's water supply, Lisa finds that her imaginary friend is killing real people (causing Lisa herself to be a suspect), and Bart discovers that Moe and his barfly pals are secret agents, and must team up with them to face Homer, who is a Bond-like super-villain.
It falls pretty much in the middle of the Treehouse episodes, but by making it the 600th episode of the series, it had a special, can't miss feel to it. Especially great was the list of shows canceled by Fox over that timeframe, including an Untitled Seth MacFarlane project in 2017.
