Break the zombie apocalypse down to the basics of what it actually means for the world. It means no people (well, a significant lack of people). Where there are no people, there are no walkers. Surely then, if the characters were dead set on surviving, they'd make for the coast and aim for a cosy little island to live out a peaceful, glorious existence, free from worry, free from tribulations. Think about it. There'd be plenty of boats around, powered or not-powered, enough to ferry across a decent number of survivors. Once the small island had been checked, double-checked, and checked again for signs of zombie life, then the group have nothing to worry about. Walkers can't swim, meaning that they group is safe for life and can either choose to live off the land or make supply runs to the shore. It's a theory that Rick and the gang would be crazy not to follow, right? I think I might have just won the zombie apocalypse. You'll want me on your team, guys.
