The Walking Dead: 10 Characters Who Stuck Around Too Long

1. Lori Grimes

The Walking Dead Beth
AMC

Played by: Sarah Wayne Callies

First appearance: Days Gone Bye (S1E1)

Last appearance: Killer Within (S3E4)

To be honest, Lori Grimes should never have made it past Season 1 - just saying. However, for the sakes of storytelling, that Lori train kept on chugging. As Rick's two-timing wife, Sarah Wayne Callies was reduced to memes of her doing laundry and little all else. By the time the show reached the much-improved third season, everyone had grown tired of Lori's down-trodden housewife routine.

The problem was the Lori/Rick/Shane love triangle. In the comic books Shane was killed off much earlier than the show, but here we had a whole extra season of will they/won't they. It was therefore a relief for fans of the comics when they knew what was coming when the show drove through those prison gates.

The death of his precious wife certainly did do something to Rick - it sent Andrew Lincoln into one of his numerous "angry dad" phases, and put him on the road to the gruff leader we see today.

Annoyingly, we never actually saw Lori die and a strange theory surfaced that Lori was still alive. I pray to the walker Gods that Lori stays dead - even for The Walking Dead that is a bit of a stretch. Sarah Wayne Callies has already made one return from the grave in Prison Break, we don't need another one..
