The Walking Dead: 10 Characters Who Stuck Around Too Long

7. Tara Chambler

The Walking Dead Beth
AMC

Played by: Alanna Masterson

First appearance: Livebait (S4E6)

Final appearance: Ongoing

When Tara was introduced to flesh out The Governor's storyline, we never thought she would make it this far. Unfortunately, just like Eugene's Mullet, she keeps on going. You would have thought losing your sister, niece, and lover would teach you something about the apocalypse, but viewers know as little about Tara as they did on day one. Perhaps the biggest gripe of Tara is that she is used as an LGBT plot point - pigeonholed as your stereotypical tough lesbian.

Season 6 offered potential for the character to grow thanks to her relationship with Dr. Denise Cloyd, but then Denise went and took an arrow to the eye. In an ideal world they should have done what TWD normally does and kill off the other character. Denise was one of the rare inductees who was actually memorable, but instead we're just left with Tara, who definitely isn't.

Meanwhile the Tara Chambler of the comic books only briefly appeared alongside The Governor, and was left with her fate unknown. I kind of wish this is where the script left the real-life version of the character too.
