The Walking Dead: 10 Most Disappointing Episodes Ever
9. 18 Miles Out (Season 2, Episode 10)
Season 2 of The Walking Dead is widely regarded as one of its weakest, most notably due to the dull and uneventful occurrences on Hershel's farm. With the characters settled here for an entire season, the showrunners ended up artificially extending the length on a massively reduced budget.
Nowhere is this more evident than with 18 Miles Out. In previous episodes, Rick and Hershel rescue Randyll, a young member of a rival group. From here, he becomes little more than a thorn in their side, a means to keep the group arguing before the season finale. Rick doesn't believe in killing Randyll, but Shane insists that the boy should be offed to prevent his clan from invading the farm.
In Episode 10 they decide to take him to an abandoned wrecking factory to execution, only to get caught up in a major zombie infestation. It contributes very little to the story and boasts some very illogical moments of hand-to-hand action.
As Rick and Shane drive back to the farm with Randyll in tow, you realise just how pointless this episode really was. Outside of fuelling the duo's increasing animosity it was the worst kind of padding, designed to keep Randyll around a while longer and prolong an already bland second season.
