Beta is superior to Alpha in every conceivable way. Simply put, Alpha was the brains of the Whisperers, whilst Beta was the dutiful muscle.

But Beta’s devotion to Alpha and the Whisperer way of life made him a threat like no other. He was unhinged, shrouded in mystery, with a voice that could freeze blood and a physicality that made even Daryl useless hand-to-hand. With Alpha’s death, he became more insane than ever and has proven to be a bigger and more immediate threat than Alpha ever was.

He may not have received quite as much characterisation as his deceased leader, but the sheer presence of him and his fractured psyche end up making him a much more unforgettable character.
