The Walking Dead: Every Main Character Ranked Worst To Best

28. Dale Horvath (Jeffrey DeMunn)

Walking Dead
AMC

Dale was the moral voice in the show’s first seasons, offering a calm balance to the more unpredictable and violent roles of Shane and Daryl.

With his signature hat and endearing relationships with Andrea, Glenn and T-Dog, it was a shame to see the old guy so sidelined in the later episodes of Season 2. Trying to fix his fragile bond with Andrea, and attempting to keep the group from losing their humanity, Dale ends up killed by a lone walker, having died believing he failed his friends.

This callous death, mixed with Jeffrey DeMunn’s desire to leave the show, made sure Dale never reached his full potential.
