Ezekiel wasn't too strong a character in season seven, despite his theatrical persona and Khary Payton's energetic performance, but in Some Guy he really comes into his own, and cements the episode as one of the season's best in the process.

Continuing the initial assault against the Saviors, Some Guy follows Ezekiel after his soldiers are killed trying to protect him, and he and Jerry are forced to fight off waves of walkers whilst injured and heavily outgunned. Meanwhile, Rick, Daryl and Carol fight for the Saviors' weapons.

Anchored by Payton's performance as Ezekiel loses faith over his leadership and place in the war, Some Guy comes complete with the heartbreaking death of Shiva and an effective look at the toil of war. Its pacing is a bit choppy, but its emotional impact is unforgettable.
