The Walking Dead Season 11 Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs From "Out Of The Ashes"
9. DOWN: The Kid-Centric B-Plot
A couple of episodes ago, the kids at Alexandria got a few moments to shine, which was sweet to see given their parents' history and the fact the show has long been lacking a child's perspective on the new world.
Early in this episode, Judith gets more opportunity to take centre stage, teaching the other children how to fight with swords, a development that starts off well but soon turns into an odd side-plot where they're bullied by some older kids.
The unnecessary conflict is mercifully short-lived, but still fails to gel with the tone of the show. On the plus side, Cailey Fleming's performance as Judith is one of the few in the episode that's in any way switched-on, so that's good at least.
