2. Comic Book Imagery

If you went into the episode blind (too soon?) without knowing any details of the comic books, then Carl's accident was an enormous shock. Fans had wondered whether the series would follow the comic books, or deviate in another direction. Fears were quelled when the scene played out exactly how the source material detailed it. The whole look of Carl in the comic looked identical to Carl in the series, with the 'Dad?' line also featuring on screen. It was a major moment, and some fans may not have noticed how similar it was to the imagery in Robert Kirkman's comics.
