The Walking Dead Season 6: 9 Things You Need To Know About Jesus
5. He's Gay
I've seen quite a few places describing Jesus as 'The Walking Dead's new gay character' and such like, which is a bit like describing Michonne as 'it's black woman' or Eugene as 'the mulletted character'. Actually, that last one is probably appropriate. But, yeah, Paul Monroe is gay, and though it remains to be seen whether Paul Rovia is, it'd make sense if they're directly translating him from page to screen. It took quite a while for his sexuality to be addressed in the comics, although he has since entered a relationship with another member of his group of survivors. And it will be great to see another gay character on screen, not just The Walking Dead but TV in general, especially one for whom it's a part of who he is, but not the overall defining trait, and certainly not something that goes into being a stereotype or caricature, as still happens too often (think of someone like Loras Tyrell on Game of Thrones, who is exactly that on the show, despite being a fantastic warrior in the books).
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
