The eighth season of The Walking Dead ended on a rather sour note, when the all-out war between Negan and Rick never really took place. Any desire fans had to continue watching the show declined further, when it was revealed that Andrew Lincoln would be departing from the AMC series following the ninth season. For many viewers, this was the final nail in the coffin. But with only one season of Rick Grimes left, it's worth keeping an open mind as we prepare to say goodbye to the protagonist of the post-apocalyptic series once and for all.

As they do every year, the cast of The Walking Dead showed up at San Diego Comic-Con, whre they gave quite a bit of information about the show going forward, and even discussed Lincoln's departure. In addition to teasing viewers with all the info, a brand new feature-length trailer premiered during the panel, (and has since surfaced online), and it gives hope for the post-apocalyptic drama series after all.

Here's the trailer...

The Walking Dead is living on borrowed time, but the Comic-Con panel has revived interest in the show.

6. The Premiere Date For Season 9

The Walking Dead usually remains off the air until late October. Perhaps it's because the show likes to return at Halloween, or perhaps its because AMC usually like to let Fear The Walking Dead finished out its season before airing The Walking Dead.

However, this time around, the show is returning slightly earlier. During the San-Diego Comic-Con panel, a premiere date of October 7th was revealed to the people in attendance, which was then was further confirmed at the end of the trailer.

We've had plenty of time to recover from the mediocre Season 8 finale, where the all-out war between the Alexandrians and the Saviours (a war that was three-years in the making) proved to be a colossal disappointment. With a new showrunner and a new direction, The Walking Dead will likely appear very different when it returns to our screens on October 7th. Here's hoping, anyway.
