The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Review - 4 Ups & 6 Downs From "The Last Time"

1. Up: It's A Mostly Affecting Finale

The Ones Who Live
AMC

In the end, The Ones Who Live has been quite the ride, full of galvanising performances, impressive worldbuilding, and emotionally resonant character development, and "The Last Time" has been symbolic of the show as a whole.

Yes, it's messy; yes, it suffers in the way many properties of The Walking Dead suffer, from jolting pace issues to incomplete villain arcs. But through all this, the highs outweigh the lows, because its performances are so true, its characters so engrossing, its emotion so high, that you can't help but hold on and enjoy the culmination of years of TV drama.

Sigh at the plot armour, roll your eyes at yet another "I'm just doing what humanity needs to survive" villain, you can't deny how powerful it is to see Rick end his journey where he started - looking for and eventually finding his family against the odds - or how tear-inducing it is to finally Rick and Michonne find some peace.

"The Last Time" has its flaws, but there's a good chance you'll end the show smiling despite them, and what's not to love about that?
